Reshaping Romantic Nationalism
We are in an era of political change. Pride in one’s country is now conflated with racism and bigotry, as nationalism is framed as the desire for sovereignty over one’s nation. Albion is a speculative project that aims to create discussion about nationalism and heritage through a collection of three vases that showcase Britain through its raw, natural materials and flowering plants. Each vase deconstructs material elements of the UK, using four materials in particular that have had a significant use throughout the UK’s history. They are Oak, Silver, Leather and Clay.
