Another successful year at New Designers 2022 with our Graduates. We’d like to congratulate Harriet Almond for winning the Joseph and Joseph award! Somewhere else...

This academic year some of our final year students worked in collaboration with John Lewis and Partners to develop concepts that provide feedback to users without the use of digital screens. The aim of this project is to inspire designers to use technology in more integrated ways that feel more intuitive than typical screen based activity. Here is a selection of John Lewis and Partners favourite concepts:

New Designers 2020 Winner

Luke Hazlehurst won the Kenwood Appliances Award at New Designers this year.

ALEVO / / Alveo is an at-home photobioreactor and cultivation tank which allows consumers to grow and harvest fresh, flavour free and ready to consume spirulina. Alveo aims to bring a sense of wellness to both the kitchen and consumer by introducing this superfood of the future to the home.

Afternoon Tea in 2029...

Afternoon was popularised in the 19th Century, a couple of centuries after tea was introduced to England. It has barely evolved since. Northumbria University and John Lewis Partnership undertook a collaborative project to reimagine what afternoon tea might be like in 2029.
