Our Major Project Portfolio showcases all of the exceptional work carried out at Northumbria University’s School of Design by the BA(Hons) Design for Industry students. These final major projects are the result of four years education which show imagination and creativity, drawing upon current real-world issues.
Brief History
Industrial Design education in Newcastle upon Tyne can trace its origins back to a College of Art in the mid 50’s, but it was not until 1975 that the 4-year BA(Hons) Design for Industry course was introduced with the notion of combining industrial experience with design education. Since then, the course has produced well over a thousand graduates who have gone on to take significantly influential roles in design, business and education.
