Threads of Iron

// A dialogue between Taiwanese iron window grilles and Hakka indigo dyeing- reimagining tradition for modern life. Not a replica of the past, but living expression of cultural continuity.

The folding screen is more than a divider; it offers a space for reflection, calm, and connection. Iron window grilles, once exterior protective elements, are reinterpreted here as interior symbols of memory. Positioned at the top of the screen to evoke a window, they are framed by fabrics suggesting architectural elements; a wall or open curtain revealing the motif, blending heritage with function to bridge past and present.

In doing so, the work offers new forms through which these fading Taiwanese traditions may quietly endure.
