Mains to Rains

// Set out to address an increasing issue in the UK, rising water bills and increasing water demand. My goal was to find a practical, impactful way to help reduce household water consumption.

Mains to Rains is a retrofit rainwater harvesting kit designed specifically for Tyneside flats, one of the most common housing types in the North East. The system collects rainwater from the downpipe, stores it in an external tank, and uses it to flush the toilet. Flushing the toilet is one of the largest sources of domestic water use, accounting for around 30% of household consumption.

The modular tank design allows users to scale the system based on household size and water usage. The additional sections are attached with a rubber gasket and CT1 adhesive to ensure a watertight seal. By using Mains to Rains, homeowners can reduce their water bills and environmental impact.
