Guider

Guider is a visually impaired haptic skiing aid that reduces a guide’s cognitive load and enhances competitive performance by prolonging training sessions.

As the ski guide who leads the pair leans left and right, tucks and untucks, a signal is sent to the skier behind. The visually impaired skier’s vest vibrates in a series of patterns to communicate the movement instruction. It’s important that the distance remains consistent between the pairing, therefore, using the Guider app, skiers adjust their distance according to their discipline. Now, if the distance from skier to guide exceeds the agreed distance, both haptic modules within the Guide’s vest will vibrate with growing intensity until they return to the appropriate distance.
